Winter Break Camp

Get ready for a winter break filled with paws, purpose, and plenty of tail wags! The Humane Society of Pinellas is excited to welcome young animal lovers to Companions in Action: Winter Break—a day-camp experience where compassion turns into action.

This hands-on, animal-focused camp gives kids the opportunity to build empathy, learn responsible pet care, and discover how shelters like HSP support both animals and the people who love them. Each day, campers will spend meaningful time with our adoptable animals—learning their stories, observing their needs, and gaining a deeper understanding of the human–animal bond. Through these interactions, along with engaging lessons, creative projects, and service activities, campers will see how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Whether your child is a natural helper, a future veterinarian, or simply curious about animals, Companions in Action offers a chance to grow, give back, and connect—with pets, people, and a community that cares.

What Campers Will Experience

  • Learning to care for pets with kindness and confidence

  • Understanding how animal shelters support families and their pets

  • Participating in age-appropriate service projects at HSP

  • Spending quality time with our adoptable animals

  • Creating animal-themed crafts and playing teamwork-based games

Program Details

Day 1, Week 1: Explorers
December 22 | Ages 8–10 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Day 2, Week 1: Trailblazers
December 23 | Ages 11–13 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Day 1, Week 2: Explorers
December 29 | Ages 8–10 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Day 2, Week 2: Trailblazers
December 30 | Ages 11–13 | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Please note: Each week features different curriculum. We encourage signing up for both weeks.

Cost: $60 per camper, per single-day session
Capacity: Limited to 20 campers per session
Campers should bring a lunch, snack, and water bottle each day.
